Julia Roberts Presents Pal Paul Rudd With Honorary Irishman

Julia Roberts poked fun at her pal Paul Rudd's lack of Irish ancestry on Thursday, February 24 as she presented the actor with an award from the U.S.-Irish Alliance. The "I Love You, Man" star was named as the recipient of the organization's 2011 Honorary Irishman title and he was feted at the Oscar Wilde: Honoring the Irish in Film event in Los Angeles.

Roberts made a surprise appearance at the prize giving to pay tribute to Rudd, her co-star in a 2006 Broadway production of "Three Days of Rain", and she made the audience chuckle by joking about the actor's heritage.

Pointing out that Rudd was actually born to Jewish immigrants from England, she told the crowd, "This is so crazy, really, Paul Rudd - Paul McRudd - is Jewish, not Irish! Maybe I can become Irish. My middle name is Fiona, which is a step closer to being Irish than Paul Rudd was five minutes ago."
