'The Dark Knight Rises' to Return to 'Batman Begins'

Gary Oldman has given a hint at "The Dark Knight Rises" storyline. The actor, who is likely to reprise his role as Jim Gordon in the upcoming film, says the third film in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy will tie to the first installment, "Batman Begins".

"The scope of it and also the way he brings it back to 'Batman Begins'," he says on the climatic tone in "The Dark Knight Rises", before adding "and really what Bruce Wayne discovers about himself, what he learns about himself at the end of this one [will top off the trilogy]."

Despite describing a bit about the story, Oldman claims he has not read the script. "I haven't seen the script yet," he tells MTV Splash Page. "I know the story and it's a great story. You look at 'The Dark Knight' and you go, 'How's he going to top it?' But I think he has."

As for his character's role in the next Batman film, the 52-year-old star says he has "heard it's a good role." He then coyly adds, "But I'll have to wait and see, won't I?"

"The Dark Knight Rises" has been confirmed to end Christopher Nolan-directed Batman film series. Nolan will return to the director's seat once again, while Christian Bale is set to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne aka Batman.

New cast members include Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy who will portray Selina Kyle and Bane respectively. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been long rumored to star in the upcoming July 20, 2012 release as well, but his involvement has not been confirmed by Warner Bros. Pictures yet.
